Well hello! My name is Denita Guthery and I currently serve on active duty in the world’s greatest Air Force! I have been “answering our Nation’s call” for a little over 23 years and I still feel like there is more for me to give to our Airmen, hence why I started this blog. If you would have told me 20 years ago that I would still be in the military in 2024, I probably would have laughed and asked if you were trying to be funny.
I joined the military to make a better life for myself and to save up for my dream wedding to my dream guy =) Well I never got the dream wedding (yet) but I got the dream guy (and a beautiful baby girl) and have been able to cultivate a career that I only dreamed about early in my career. To be honest I thought I would do 4 years and get out. But I guess God had other plans because I got the opportunity to go to Germany after being at my first assignment for only one year! But in order to take the assignment, I had to extend my Enlistment and the rest is history from there!
I have had some good experiences and some bad ones, but most importantly, I have learned a lot along the way. I would love to share my journey with you through stories of my experiences sprinkled with lessons learned so you can avoid the pitfalls I faced OR get inspired and motivated by seeing how I was able to overcome and triumph when everyone around me, including myself at times, thought I would not succeed.
Let me tell you, If this little shy brown girl from the small town of Benton Harbor, MI can do it, so can you!
